Information on how to enter this Competition and prize details form part of these Terms and Conditions of entry (Terms). These Terms apply to the Competition and entry into the Competition is deemed acceptance of these Terms.
The promoter is Jurien Bay Camera Club Inc (ABN 32 628 120 350) of PO Box 530 JURIEN BAY 6516 (Promoter).
The Competition will be open from 29th October 2018 and will close Midnight (Western Standard Time) on 18th November 2018 (Competition Period).
By entering this Competition you represent that you are eligible to enter.
An entry fee of $5 is payable for each entry.
Entrants may enter as many images as they like.
Eligible Entrants
Entrants must not derive the majority of their income from photography.
Entrants under the age of 18 years must have parent or guardianâs consent to enter this Competition
Committee members of the Jurien Bay Camera Club are not permitted to enter the competition
Images
Images are to be in the JPG format.
Images are to be of landscape orientation.
Images are to be at least 1920 pixels wide.
Eligible Entries
The image and all elements must be photographic, although any level of post-production is allowed in this competition.
All photographs and post-production work must be the work of the entrant.
Photographs must be taken in the Turquoise Coast area (Wedge Island to Leeman, and inland to The Brand Hwy).
Photographs that have won prizes in other competitions are not eligible to be entered.
Where a person is clearly identifiable in the photograph, that personâs consent or the consent of the parent or guardian of the person (people under 18 years) is required. Finalists will be required to submit written consent forms: Consent Form
The âLandscapeâ category is defined as âa photograph of natural scenery”. It may include man made elements (crops, fences, people, buildings etc), but these must not dominate the Photograph.
The “Nature (flora and fauna)” category is defined as:
any native plant, growing in its natural environment. It does not include native plants planted in gardens, parks etc. OR
any native animal, not domesticated or in captivity
The “Community” category is defined as people and structures in the natural environment. Examples are people using recreational facilities like swimming in ocean baths, walking on paths in the bush, fishing on jetties or walls, in the natural environment. It does not include people using facilities that are largely in the built environment, for example people swimming in a town swimming pool, playing tennis on tennis courts etc.
How to enter
To enter the Competition and be eligible to win, Eligible Entrants must:
Submit via the electronic entry form, which can be found at the Website which sets out details of the Eligible Entrant including the Eligible Entrantâs name, email address and phone number (Entry Form)
pay the nonrefundable entry fee of AU$5
specify a title for the Photograph
nominate one of the following categories for the Photograph:
Wildflower
Wildlife
Landscape
People’s Choice Award
the People’s Choice Award forms part of this competition
you must indicate on your entry if you don’t wish to be included in the People’s Choice Award.
the People’s Choice Award will be determined by online voting
the top thirteen Photographs will be used to create a calendar, which will be sold by the Jurien Bay Community Resource Centre (Jurien CRC).
the Jurien CRC will keep all proceeds from sale of these calendars
Judging process
Judging will be conducted by an expert judging panel from the Western Australian Photographic Judges Association (WAPJA). The judges’ decision in relation to any aspect of this Competition are final and binding on each person who enters this Competition. This is a competition of skill and chance plays no part in determining the Winners.
The judges will judge each Eligible Entry based on its relation to the Competition Theme (Natural / Beautiful / Unique) and the photographic quality and creativity of the Photograph (Judging Criteria).
The judges will select the best 10 Eligible Entries in each category as finalists.
From the finalists for each category, winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize for each category will be selected.
Winners will be announced and prizes presented on 12th Jan 2018 at the Jurien Bay amphitheatre along with a viewing of all finalist photos.
Prizes
The total prize pool consists of $1,200 in prizes. Prizes for each of the 3 categories are 1st: $250, 2nd: $100, 3rd: $50. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax liabilities that may arise from winning the Prize.
The Finalists will be notified in writing by email and with their entries displayed on the Website.
The Promoter reserves the right to request that a Finalist provides proof of his / her identity and / or age prior to awarding a Prize. Proof of identification and /or age considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Promoter. In the event that a Finalist cannot provide suitable proof, the Finalist will forfeit the Prize and no substitute will be offered.
If the Promoter is unable to contact Winners to claim fulfilment of the applicable prize within 28 (twenty-eight) days of the applicable judging date, that Winner will forego their applicable prize in its entirety and the applicable prize will be awarded to the next best entry as assessed by the judges.
If a Winner is under the age of 18 years, the prize will be awarded to his or her parent or legal guardian.
Photograph Submission Guidelines
Photographs submitted must not:
be sexually explicit or suggestive, unnecessarily violent or derogatory of any ethnicity, race, gender, religion, profession or age group, profane or pornographic, contain nudity or any dangerous activity
promote alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing), any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous, or any particular political agenda or message
be obscene or offensive, endorse any form of hate or hate group
defame, misrepresent or contain disparaging remarks about the Promoter or its services, or other people, products or companies
infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party and must not contain trademarks, logos or trade dress owned by others, or advertise or promote any brand or product of any kind or contain any personal identification, such as vehicle number plates, personal names, e-mail addresses or street addresses
must not contain copyrighted materials owned by others (including photographs, sculptures, paintings and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies or other media)
must not include images of corporate logos, trademarks, identities, or other proprietary materials owned by others such as television shows, magazines, or web pages
must not contain images of children unless the written consent of a parent or guardian has been obtained to the use of the image, including any use in accordance with these Terms. The Promoter reserves the right to request a copy of this consent in writing
must not communicate messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or goodwill to which the Promoter wishes to associate; and
must not depict, and cannot itself be, in violation of any law, Intellectual Property, Moral Rights and Privacy.
By submitting an entry, Eligible Entrants agree that the Promoter may make their Photograph available to the public, including but not limited to, by:
uploading and posting it on the Website
exhibitions related to the Competition
publications published and distributed by the Promoter relating to this competition.
Photographers retain copyright of their images. By entering the Competition, each Eligible Entrant:
warrants that the Eligible Entry is an original work, meaning that it has been created by the Eligible Entrant, has not been copied from any other source, and does not incorporate any material or idea from any other person and that the Entrant has written consent of the people whose image is included in the photograph, including any use in accordance with these Terms. The Promoter reserves the right to request a copy of this consent in writing
grants to the Promoter an irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide non-exclusive licence, to display, publish, communicate to the public, broadcast for the purpose of marketing and promoting the Competition, in any media (including media not yet in existence), including, but not limited to:
uploading and posting it on the Website
uploading and posting it on social media sites
exhibitions related to this Competition
publications published and distributed by the Promoter relating to this competition.
