2018 Turquoise Coast Photo Competition

Thanks to the Shire of Dandaragan Community Grants Program the Jurien Bay Camera Club in association with the Jurien Bay Community Resource Centre is delighted to invite you to enter the Turquoise Coast Photo Competition.


Photographs must have been taken in the Turquoise Coast Area (Wedge Island to Leeman, and inland to The Brand Hwy)

There are three categories you can enter.

  1. Landscape - A photograph of natural scenery. It may include man made elements (buildings, crops, fences etc), but these must not dominate the photograph.
  2. Nature - A photograph of a native flowering plant or plants in the natural environment, or a native animal. It does not include plants planted by man in gardens or parks, domesticated animals or animals in captivity
  3. Community - A photograph of a person or people in the natural environment. It can include man made structures, for example people using recreational facilities like swimming in ocean baths, walking on paths in the bush, fishing on jetties or walls, in the natural environment.

You must provide a consent form for any easily identifiable people in your photographs. Consent Form

Entry Fee

$5 per entry, enter as many photographs as you like. Payments are made by EFT to our nominated bank account.

The People's Choice Award

This competition also allows the public to vote for their favourite pictures online. The top thirteen photographs will be incorporated into a calendar by the Jurien Bay Community Resource Center, and will be available for sale from the Turquoise Coast Visitors Center.

Each person can vote for up to five photographs.


  • Entries open 29 October 2018
  • Entries close 18 November 2018
  • People Choice Award voting 19 November 2018
  • Voting closes on 2nd December 2018
  • People's Choice Award winners announced, and calendar produced in December
  • Finalists announced in December 2018
  • Presentation of finalists and winners in January 2019


Photographs will be judged by a panel of judges from the Western Australian Photographic Judges Association. A cash prize will be awarded to the top three entries in each category

  1. First - $250
  2. Second - $100
  3. Third - $50
